Samantha O’Keefe of Lismore Wines faced a devastating loss when a fire destroyed her home, cellar, and most of her vineyards in late 2019. Despite the setback, she persevered and created her 2021 wines while her replacement cellar was still under construction. She describes that making this wine was largely “effortless” due to the exceptional quality of the grapes. The wine is a sensory delight, with a nose that is both pretty and complex. The aroma is a harmonious blend of red currant, cherry, rose, fresh herbs, and white pepper, which tantalises the senses and prepares the palate for what is to come. The wine is light and refreshing on the palate, with a crispness that invigorates the senses with some strong tannins.
